Manage CFO: Selection Methodology & Editorial Disclosure

Program Objective

The “Top Finance Advisory Firms” and related recognitions by Manage CFO are designed to identify finance leaders and advisory organizations delivering measurable business outcomes, financial discipline and sustained strategic impact across enterprise environments.

The program evaluates CFOs and finance advisory firms supporting core Office of the CFO priorities, including financial planning and analysis (FP&A), capital allocation, business valuation, financial risk management, regulatory compliance and strategic finance leadership. It recognizes enterprise CFOs as well as fractional, interim and outsourced finance partners driving growth, investor alignment and operational performance. The objective is to highlight leadership and advisory capability that strengthens financial control, improves capital efficiency and enables informed, forward-looking decision-making.

The Selection Framework

The Manage CFO research team, in collaboration with its Editorial Advisory Board and external industry participants, applies a Cross-Functional Finance Value Assessment Model to evaluate nominees.

Inputs are derived from:

  • Subscriber and practitioner nominations

  • Editorial research and market tracking

Subscriber input plays a central role, reflecting organizations that finance leaders actively deploy, evaluate, and trust within live operating environments.

Each nominee is evaluated on a standardized 1 to 100 scale across four weighted dimensions:

Assessment focuses on demonstrable improvements in financial planning accuracy, cost visibility, reporting efficiency, and decision support across finance functions.

Strategic Relevance to CFO Priorities (25%)

Execution Strength and Operational Reliability (25%)

Scoring considers implementation consistency, integration within finance systems, scalability, and the ability to support ongoing financial operations without disruption.

Strong candidates demonstrate sustained credibility through practitioner adoption, retention, peer recommendations, and ecosystem partnerships.
